Europe-based company Arbonics is set on a mission to accelerate climate action through forest-based carbon dioxide removal (CDR).
The company is building a platform with high-quality, nature-based carbon removal credits delivered from forestry projects operating in multiple European countries, including Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Finland.
Leveraging the firm forestry regulations that are in place in the European Union, Arbonics offers corporate buyers access to premium carbon removal credits that are verified to deliver results in real-life scenarios.
To ensure the credits listed in its system meet the leading standards in the industry, Arbonics relies on certification provided by Verra.
By introducing high-quality forestry carbon credits to buyers, Arbonics also opens up new income sources for local landowners and forest stewards, stimulating further ecosystem protection and restoration.
According to Arbonics co-founder and CEO Kristjan Lepik, the company’s European location gives it a unique edge that brings along benefits for them as developers of CDR projects, as well as for credit buyers, who can tap into a pool of high-quality offsets.
He stated, “Not only can businesses rely on regulations such as the CRCF and CSRD, they also benefit from better access to high-quality data compared to other continents.”
With the help of leading geo-informatics and forestry experts, the company has developed an innovative, proprietary, “digital twin” technology that shows a precise digital representation of each plot of land, measured in 5-meter-side hexagons.

This system integrates over 50 layers of data that include orthophotos, LiDAR, satellite imagery, and local data, enabling extensive monitoring and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
Beyond the effective tracking, this innovation also provides landowners with valuable guidelines on the type of soil they operate and how to optimally purpose it for climate action.
By 2025, Arbonics intends to expand its area of coverage to other countries, including Sweden, Poland, Austria, France, and the United Kingdom.
The company is confident that across suitable land in Europe, their efforts could unlock 9.3M tonnes of carbon dioxide removed from the atmosphere every year.
