Anew Climate, a leading biomethane and carbon removals company, has announced a strategic agreement to service Landwärme‘s green gas contracts and contracts under Germany’s Renewable Energy Act (EEG).
The agreement, recently approved by the Federal Cartel Office and Landwärme creditors, is set to close in the coming days.
Landwärme entered self-administration proceedings on August 13, 2024, after challenges in Germany’s regulated transportation markets, exacerbated by suspected fraud linked to biodiesel imports and upstream emission reduction (UER) projects.
Restructuring manager Dr. Anna Wilke stated that Anew Climate was chosen by the Landwärme creditors committee to oversee the company’s remaining contracts, citing its strong track record in the North American biomethane market, solid financial backing, and deep expertise in environmental commodities.

On behalf of Anew Climate, CEO Angela Schwarz expressed confidence in the company’s ability to manage Landwärme’s core contracts, highlighting its expertise and financial strength as the leading independent biomethane marketer in North America.
She also noted that Anew Climate’s expansion into Europe through its Low Carbon Fuels and Carbon Development businesses makes it a strong partner for Landwärme’s customers.
Anew Climate, which has over 20 years of experience in environmental commodities, first entered the European market in 2022 by establishing a carbon removals business in Madrid.
The company has since expanded, opening offices in Munich and Berlin, in addition to existing locations in Budapest and Madrid.
Landwärme representatives will soon reach out to green gas and EEG customers with further information.
