Altitude is expanding its presence in Asia with a substantial new commitment to biochar carbon removal, securing more than 360,000 metric tons of future CO2 Removal Certificates from facilities operated by Alcom in India and the Philippines. The agreement marks one of the larger cross-border biochar offtake arrangements announced this year as buyers race to lock in scarce supplies of durable carbon removal.

The certificates, known as CORCs, are expected to be issued through Puro.earth or comparable registries, a step intended to ensure rigorous monitoring and traceability. Alcom’s facilities rely on advanced pyrolysis systems that convert agricultural residues into biochar, a carbon-rich material that can be applied to soils for long-term storage while improving crop performance.

“This agreement with Alcom is another step in a collaborative partnership scaling up CDR,” said Daniel Benjamin Schulz, CEO of Altitude. “By sourcing CORCs from high-quality biochar projects in the Philippines and India, we contribute to critical waste management and growth in those highly important regions .”

Alcom executives framed the deal as both a climate and development milestone. Founder and CEO Prateek Tiwari and Director of Carbon Siddharth Kaul said the partnership accelerates the rollout of verified carbon removal capacity while delivering economic value in rural areas. Initial deliveries under the agreement are slated to begin in 2026.

The announcement builds on Altitude’s earlier large-scale purchases in other regions, including six-figure commitments tied to biochar and engineered removal projects in Europe and the Americas. Those deals, reported previously by industry and financial media, underscored the firm’s strategy of signing long-term offtake contracts to help developers secure financing and scale operations.
