On July 11th, Aker Carbon Capture announced the appointment of Egil Fagerland as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He is transitioning from the role of the company’s CFO and taking over the position from Valborg Lundegaard.
This administrative switch comes after Lundegaard’s decision to step down from the CEO function in order to focus on her health and family. She will continue working with Aker in the role of senior consultant.
Considering his exceptional performance within Aker-branded projects for over a decade, Fagerland is a viable choice for an in-company replacement.
Egil Fagerland has been a part of Aker Solutions since 2012, providing his expertise in various roles and domains, including senior vice president, group controlling, and financial systems.
In April of 2021, he joined Aker Carbon Capture, and since then he has significantly contributed to the company’s development and expansion, leading and managing the financial operations department.

Fagerland has a background in Economics and Business Administration, holding a Master of Science degree from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH). He has more than ten years of accumulated know-how in finance, project management, business systems, and enhancing operational efficiency within the energy sector.
The carbon capture company is on a mission to increase business operations and acquire more CO2 capture plant deals after steady business results over the past year. Under Lundegaard’s leadership, the company established itself as a decarbonization leader, and Fagerland expressed his excitement and gratitude for being given the opportunity to take over this responsible role.
In his comment on his appointment as CEO, he acknowledged the effort done by Aker so far by sharing: “Our mission is of immense importance – we have the power to significantly impact our planet’s future through innovative carbon capture solutions.
