Abatable and Space Intelligence said Thursday they have entered a strategic partnership aimed at improving the accuracy of Scope 3 emissions reporting and supporting the next generation of land-based Environmental Attribute Certificates (EACs).
The collaboration combines Abatable’s carbon procurement and supply shed mapping tools with Space Intelligence’s audit-grade geospatial datasets to help corporations better quantify emissions tied to land-use change.
Scope 3 emissions, which typically represent the largest share of a company’s carbon footprint, remain among the most difficult to measure with precision.

Abatable maps corporate supply sheds against a database of more than 13,000 carbon projects and supports companies pursuing insetting strategies.
As a founding member of the International Platform for Insetting (IPI), the company connects corporates with high-integrity commodity EACs and project developers operating in specific sourcing regions.
Space Intelligence contributes proprietary crop and deforestation maps and algorithms aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) FLAG guidance and the GHG Protocol.
Its Scope 3 Emissions Reporting Service supports the highest-tier “direct Land Use Change” method and is designed to deliver high-confidence emissions estimates, particularly where supply chain traceability is limited.
According to the companies, the integrated approach has reduced estimated Scope 3 emissions by more than 60% compared with default methodologies that rely on Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) emissions factors and Global Forest Watch data.
The partnership also positions clients to meet expanding regulatory requirements, including the European Union (EU)’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, the EU Deforestation Regulation and the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures.
Beyond reporting, the companies will offer a two-step due-diligence process for investors and project developers, combining broad geospatial screening with technical, investment-grade datasets to help de-risk nature-based carbon investments.
