Climate platform Commons has entered into a partnership with InPlanet that expands the access to high-integrity carbon removal credits from enhanced rock weathering (ERW).
With this move, Commons is adding InPlanet’s ERW projects in Brazil to its carbon removal portfolio.
Specialized in sustainable spending, Commons is a finance app that serves individuals and organizations with significant capital, helping them direct those means into a curated set of exceptional climate solutions.
The app comes with a design that enables users to see the full impact of their everyday financial choices transparently, and it offers a toolset to change them.
Commons made the decision to enter this partnership with InPlanet following a rigorous evaluation process. “Partnering with InPlanet is an exciting step toward scaling durable carbon removal while creating meaningful benefits for farmers and local communities,” said Sanchali Pal, Founder and CEO at Commons.
InPlanet stands out with its approach to ERW
When assessing options for its carbon removal portfolio, Commons recognized InPlanet’s work not only because of the tonnes of CO2 removed, but also due to the scientific rigor, transparency, and long-term credibility of its operations.

Besides developing its own carbon dioxide removal (CDR) projects, InPlanet also actively contributes data to academic and nonprofit research, with the goal of advancing the scientific knowledge, standards, and policies that would enable ERW to scale as a trusted carbon removal solution.
This collaboration, according to the ERW company, represents a shared commitment to scaling a high-integrity CDR pathway while creating lasting climate impact, as enhanced rock weathering is known to improve soil health, supporting more resilient agriculture in the tropics.
