The Carbon Removal India Alliance (CRIA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with global sustainability insights, innovation and capital advisory firm cKinetics, joining forces on advancing carbon dioxide removal (CDR) in India.
As part of the collaboration, the two partners will contribute towards building the infrastructure needed for the responsible scaling of CDR in the country, with a focus on knowledge, capital, markets, and stakeholder engagement.
The two companies will dedicate efforts to CDR research, organizing strategic gatherings, ecosystem development, and initiatives looking to boost the local CO2 market, fortifying the existing foundations for high-integrity removals in India.
This partnership aligns with CRIA’s mission of catalysing a thriving durable CDR sector in the country. To that end, the organization operates as a non-partisan coalition led by over 25 established industry representatives.
Globally positioned cKinetics, on the other hand, will enrich this collaboration with its market insights and expertise, leveraging years of experience working with businesses, investors, industry groups, and thought leaders.
CRIA and cKinetics share that their aim will be to co-create CDR knowledge products and joint projects that will provide access to capital, strengthen the existing market infrastructure, and position India as a global hub for high-integrity, durable carbon removal.
Upendra Bhatt, co-founder & MD at cKinetics, shared that the company has been actively supporting the CDR ecosystem in India through advisory and market intelligence work and CDR-focused events in India and globally.
In its support for this sector, cKinetics has also developed a public data resource called the Carbon Removal and Offsets Monitor, which tracks key developments across the CDR landscape.

By leveraging each other’s expertise, resources, and networks, we aim to enhance the effectiveness and reach of our respective programs; and in the process support building a science-aligned, finance-ready CDR sector for India.”
