Switzerland-based company Sensirion, a global leader in sensor and sensor solutions, has invested in a portfolio of high-quality carbon dioxide removal (CDR) via ClimeFi.

As part of the investment, Sensirion has secured durable CDR that will be delivered through 2028.

With this move, the company is expanding its commitment to CO2 removals, acting on its sustainability dedication and making progress towards net zero targets.

By partnering with ClimeFi, Sensirion is able to access a range of different, high-quality CDR projects, along with a sophisticated portfolio monitoring process with active and dynamic insights.

The portfolio of projects included in this investment covers three CDR technologies: Direct Air Capture (DAC), Biomass Carbon Removal and Storage (BiCRS), and carbon Mineralisation.

Founded in the late 90s, Sensirion specializes in manufacturing smart gas sensor solutions. In its nearly 30 years of existance, the company has managed to establish itself as one of the leaders in this industry.

Currently, the company is active across Europe, Asia and the Americas, providing employment to over 1,200 people. Being headquartered in Switzerland, Sensirion has committed to the Swiss federal government’s net-zero target for 2050.

In line with this commitment, Sensirion is working on preventing and reducing its greenhouse gas emissions, while using CDR investments to address hard-to-abate residual emissions.

The company recognized ClimeFi’s rigorous approach to carbon removals, trusting it with the procurement process for the CDR portfolio.
