This week, Sirona Technologies announced that it has locked in a new, multi-year direct air capture (DAC) CO2 removal agreement facilitated by carbon credit and environmental commodity platform Patch.
The carbon dioxide removal (CDR) credits for the agreement will be generated from Sirona’s modular DAC projects, and the secured support will boost the company’s next commercial capacity deployment.
For Sirona, this deal follows a year in which the company steadily expanded its offtake pipeline, observing a shift in which buyers started transitioning from CDR exploration to long-term procurement.
According to Sirona, buyers are not only committing to removals earlier but are also contracting deals that span multiple years in order to secure future volumes of permanent removals.
As shared in the announcement, what attracted the buyer in the latest multi-year agreement is the permanence of Sirona’s geological CO2 mineralization storage, as well as the scalability of its modular deployment model and the strategic advance of engaging early with a reliable supplier.
Sirona’s approach to carbon removal entails manufacturing modular DAC systems in Belgium, which are then deployed rapidly to different project sites around the world. This modular operation mode helps unlock fast installation and repeatable quality, presenting a streamlined scaling pathway across multiple regions.
With the support secured through this CDR deal, Sirona will continue the build-out of its commercial capacity, envisioned to continue through the second half of the decade.
As the company’s committed offtakes increase and its deployment timelines stay on track, Sirona is set to grow from a stage of first commercial units toward a multi-project, multi-region portfolio capable of delivering permanent CDR at scale.

Commenting on the agreement announcement, Thoralf Gutierrez, CEO & co-founder of Sirona Technologies, stated, “Our offtake pipeline continues to grow as more buyers move from interest to long-term commitments. Working with Patch helps companies understand how to procure permanent carbon removal and structure agreements that fit their timelines.”
He goes on to add, “This offtake supports our next phase of deployment, with more expected as our commercial projects come online.”
