Terradot has announced that it has agreed to acquire assets of U.S.-based enhanced rock weathering (ERW) company Eion, uniting the two brands to create a new global leading ERW platform.

As shared in the announcement, Terradot is acquiring Eion’s key assets, including intellectual property, project footprint, operating capabilities, and operational expertise.

Eion’s secured carbon dioxide removal (CDR) contracts, such as the ones signed with Frontier and Microsoft totaling more than 100,000+ tons, are also part of the acquisition transaction.

Combining Eion’s deals with those of Terradot, the new platform will have over 400,000 tons under contract, representing one of the largest contracted ERW portfolios in the market.

To set up the platform for success, Terradot has put together a new leadership team that will be driven by seasoned industry experts and professionals.

The new team will welcome Eion CEO Ana Pavlovic, as well as Rob Parker, who will take on the role of CFO, carrying a professional background at Google, REV Renewables & Crux, and Jim Richardson, who will be the Chief Project Development Officer, drawing on more than 30 years of work in infrastructure and energy and experience working with Chevron and Heirloom.

Launched back in 2024, Terradot has established itself as a developer of basalt-based ERW carbon removal projects in Brazil. By uniting these operations with Eion’s olivine-centered ERW projects in the United States, the new platform will operate with a diversified project portfolio that will support delivery across different soils, supply chains, and seasons, enabling tests and learning activities across different global hemispheres.

Additionally, the new entity will combine Terradot’s comprehensive and rigorous MRV capacities with Eion’s deployment dataset, patent portfolio, and published MRV work to create a fortified foundation for tracking ERW carbon removal results at scale.

“ERW is becoming a critical pathway for durable carbon removal, and the market is moving from pilots to industrialized programs built to deliver at scale,” said Terradot CEO James Kanoff.

“Integrating Eion’s olivine deployments into the Terradot platform pairs proven field execution with best-in-class science and expands a diversified portfolio across the U.S. and Brazil. Just as important, it adds operational capability we can use to stand up additional projects in new regions over time. The result is a more delivery-ready platform that gives long-term buyers greater confidence as we scale and globalize our operations,” he added.

With this acquisition of Eion, Terradot is well positioned to become an ERW consolidator, bringing together diversified projects, proven operating capability, and strict, science-backed MRV under one global platform.
