8 Rivers Capital (8 Rivers), an NC-based Net Zero solutions provider, and Australian company KC8 Capture Technologies (KC8) and its subsidiary Uno Technologies (Uno Tech) have entered a strategic Sales Framework Agreement. The partnership, announced on Sept. 21, will provide for the engineering, project development, and licensing of the KC8 technology.
KC8 offers catalytically enhanced precipitating solvent technology that can capture more than 95% of carbon dioxide emissions from high-emitting industries like cement and power generation.
The new agreement makes 8 Rivers Capital KC8’s exclusive licensing partner in North America, and a strategic partner globally.
The two companies began their partnership in 2020 when 8 Rivers received a grant from the Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) office as part of the department’s Flexible Carbon Capture and Storage (“FLECCS”) program. The grant allowed the Durham-headquartered company to work with UNO Tech on further developing and commercializing KC8’s technology and products.

KC8 has developed the proprietary technology in Australia to capture carbon from post-combustion flue gases in hard-to-abate industries with higher efficiency and at a lower cost than existing technologies. The company develops capture projects and offers license use of the technology to bring down the cost of carbon capture.
“Since 2017 we have been closely following the KC8 post-combustion capture technology,” said Damian Beauchamp, President and Chief Development Officer at the NC-based firm. “KC8 provides a more sustainable and energy efficient approach compared to amine-based post-combustion carbon capture. This partnership will allow [us] to rapidly deploy at existing emitting facilities, including power plants, allowing for significant emissions reductions across the world.”
“8 Rivers is a leader in the application of new technologies in the development of new and retrofit CO2 abatement projects,” said Greg Ross, Executive Director for KC8. “We see this agreement being a great opportunity for KC8 to accelerate the deployment of the UNO Tech technology into the US and global markets.”
